This beautiful Discovery documentary follows the unique Music project “Baroque in the Country of the sons of Heaven”. A project led by a very original ensemble composed of the great Chinese opera singer and super star Zhang Hong-li, the Huaxia Chinese ensemble and the Concert de l’Hostel Dieu ensemble from France.

The beautiful voice of Zhang Hong-li, the talent of the barroque musicians and the great scenes of the Shanxi Provence in China will completely captivate the public on top of the live concert images and amazing sound of this show. Inspired by the life and journey of Teodorico Pedrini who is a Lazarist missionary, Italian musician send by pope Clément XI in the beginning of the 18th century to the court of the Chinese emperor Kangxi, this project recreates through a series of concerts the magical moment when China was introduced to European Baroque Music.
