The mountain, immense and indestructible, imposing. You feel infinitely small and humble when you decide to enter it; infinitely intoxicated also by the spectacle which is then offered to our eyes. Painters, writers, photographers, all artists have, one day, decided to confront it and create in the heart of this exceptional universe.
Most of the time, they were transformed and influenced in their artistic expression. What about musicians, singers? Artists have sung it but rare are those who have dared to express themselves fully in it.
The documentary “Jazz Trails” explores this special relationship between Music and Mountain and questions artists, technicians, historians and mountain people on this subject. This film also proposes to show the Mountain by filming it, sometimes, like a performance stage. The organizers of the 5th edition of the Cosmojazz Festival of Chamonix agreed to participate in this experience and offer us the possibility of filming the artists who perform in exceptional places. A unique opportunity to make the Mountains resonate and to confront two worlds that rarely intersect.
The film “Jazz Trails”, while crossing the paths which lead to Mont Blanc, also raises the question of artistic creation facing the Mountain.
